MUSIC

Born in March 31st, 1984, Antony ever since he was a child, felt a strong fascination with music.
It was only on his 18th birthday that his mother gave him a guitar as a gift. It was the beginning of a great adventure!

He began by playing his first chords alone and with the help of friends who also played guitar. The years passed until, in 2006, he first heard the sound of Transmontana Bagpipe. The fascination was such that he only rested when he could find someone to teach him.

That someone was Ricardo Coelho, renowned Piper in Portugal, who taught him everything he knew. Now they are  much more than teacher/student! They are friends, companions, comrades, pipers; Together they created the project "MÍSCAROS" which joined later, Tiago Soares, Patricia Miranda, Alexandre Lima and Carmina Repas Gonçalves.

In 2009 he was invited to teach at the "Holy Land" of Bagpipes in Portugal, Miranda do Douro. The responsible were António André and Diana Caramelo through Cultural Association LÉRIAS.
There, his work, among other things that do not concern here, was to teach Bagpipe to the people of Miranda do Douro, invigorating, revitalizing and promoting the same instrument that due to rural migration and globalization, was "aged "and about to disappear.
You could say that his work was successful: he
taught bagpipe to more than 50 people and now it is no longer difficult to hear the sound of bagpipes in Mirandese Plateau.

Two years passed in Miranda, until he decided to invest in his training as a musician and the only place where he could study Portuguese traditional music, as incredible as it seems, was in Sweden.
Suitcase in hand and the instruments on his back, in September of 2011 he moved to Sweden. But it was not alone! With him was his band mate, companion of dreams, love of his life, Carmina Repas Gonçalves.

Together, they studied folk music at Sjöviks Folkhögskola invited by the Portuguese Sérgio Crisóstomo (Stockholm Lisboa Project), violin teacher at the same school.

No doubt that the stay at this school was perfect for the technical development of the instrument.

Meanwhile, that same year, he was invited to play in a preformance by the name of "Song of Songs" by the company Teatro Ensaio, co-production of Teatro Nacional S. João, directed by Pedro Estorninho and the musical direction of Carmina Repas Gonçalves.
In the musical ensemble was Antony Fernandes, bagpipes and flutes, Carmina Repas Gonçalves, viola da gamba and vocals and Rui Silva, historical percussion.
From this preformance has emerged the project "Antilia" which is in development but will released early next year.

He is currently living in Stockholm, preparing his application to the University of Music in Stockholm (KMH).
You can always fing him in a sunny day, giving life with his bagpipes to the city streets.
