THEATRE

For Antony Fernandes, the fascination with the theatre began only at 17 years old when he went to see a play with his school at the Fonseca Moreira Theater in his home town Felgueiras. Spoke with this and that until he able to join the amateur company resident in the same theater.

Inexperienced, started with small roles, but always observing his first master, Fernando Maia.
The roles were starting to get better and better until his thirst for learning other techniques became insatiable, that space had already given him everything it had to give, it was time to move on and search for new horizons.

He successfully applied to the Academy of Contemporary Performance in Porto. There he had other masters such as Antonio Capelo, João Paulo Costa, Joana Providência, among others, who taught him what he craved, new ways of doing theater.
During his studies, performed several plays always with a fairly high level of protagonism, such as "Midsummer Night's Dream" by Shakespeare, "The Terrorism" by Presniakov Brothers, among others. Finally, in his final test, was an actor in the play "The Crusades" by Michel Azama, directed by the Theatre Company Peripécia.

After he's graduation in 2007, soon appeared his first professional job. He was selected to be part of a play produced by the Teatro Nacional S. João with the name "Café" by Carlo Goldoni, staged by one of the best European directors, Giorgio Barberio Corsetti.

After this great start, two years passed with little work and a stint in the television series "Morangos com Açucar" until he was called to be part of the project "Centre for Creativity in Póvoa de Lanhoso" directed by Moncho Rodriguez. Then he cross paths with great artists such as Brazilian actress Lívia Falcão, actor Pedro Giestas, Brazilian writer Weydson Leal, among others. there did great street preformances such as "Eu Reino", "Da Pedra ao Sonho", "O Cálice da Alegria" ...

It was in this same space that he started to feel interest in other areas of theater, such as costumes, props, set design, staging and dramatic writing. On these areas  he was guided by Moncho Rodriguez, Weydson Leal, Joana Veloso and Mrs Marília and Mrs Lourdes, two of the best dressmakers there is!

In September 2009 he was invited by António André e Diana Caramelo throe Lérias, Cultural Association, to run a small theater company in Palaçoulo, Miranda do Douro, made by local people. It might not be a place with high visibility, but it was definitely the perfect place to put into practice all the lessons learned to date. Antony was responsible for almost everything in the group, was an actor, director, playwright, costume designer, set designer and prop designer.
Held about five shows with the local population. It was one of the most enriching experiences of his life!

he is currently living in Stockholm to develop another area which is also one of his artistic passions, the music, but always on the lookout for an opportunity to return to the stage!
